Spiny Dogfish Shark in Lanzarote

Spiny Dogfish Shark-Squalus acanthias

After today's boat dive Joaquin found a dead Dogfish shark. Floating in the harbour of Puerto del Carmen. It always breaks my heart when I see such a amazing animal dead on land. How it did get there is unknown. The dogfish shark is like all the sharks an endangered specie.

They are called dogfish because they operate in big shoals (like dog packs). The spiny comes from the two poisonous spines just in front of their dorsal fins.

Would be nice to see a shark like this on our dives.
