Sorry for the late reply, I just saw your post now. You probably have all the answers already but if not here they are:

Beer generally costs about 5,5 Euros at bars and restaurants. I don't know how much it is at Ríkið, probably around 3 Euros. Alcohol is expensive and only sold at specially licenced places. You won't get it at supermarkets.

A meal can cost from 9 to 30 Euro depending on the fanciness of the place. That's not with drinks included.

I guess everything is really expensive compared to UK (I'm assuming you are from there). :(

Reykjavík is pretty small so everything is close to your hotel. :) Very near to it is Laugardalslaug, one of our thermal pools. It's really nice to go there and you can rent swimsuits if you didn't bring any. Very close to the pool are the Botanic garden (http://grasagardur.is/) and the Reykjavik Zoo and family garden (http://www.mu.is/in-english). I like both, even in winter.

The centre of Reykjavik is about 20-30 min. walk from your hotel.

I don't really know what to tell you because I don't know what would interest you but feel free to contact me again if you need any information. I'll be checking this site regularly while you are here so I won't miss any reply.
